what are the chances?

I'm away working at my other job, the bed and breakfast on the lakeshore. I arrived last night and soon after that, a man rang the bell inquiring whether we had two rooms available. His accent betrayed him and we soon discovered he and his wife lived in Munich, Germany.

At breakfast this morning, it turned out five out of the six persons at the table were native Germans. That seems rather amazing. (Really, isn't that rather incredible odds?) I overheard bits and pieces of their conversation but at one point, the German who has been living in the States for nearly eight years said, "if one person in the room speaks English, the language we'll speak is English." Unfortunately I did not hear the context of the comment, nor could I infer much (anything) from his tone or body language, so I remain all shades of curious.

Another tidbit is that German is the language I studied in high school and college. Notice I say studied, not learned. Because my efforts to understand or communicate in Deutsch this morning left a bit to be desired.

But then again, I speak English...

Jordan,
Exactly!! I definitely wished you were here this morning! I'm sure it would've been fun for you.

Now, I sadly confess I have no idea what you are saying...except, something nice from Grand Rapids (what is Grusse again and how do you do the German characters?)?

i didn't realize you were working at a bed and breakfast again! Just the other day i was thinking about how you use to do that. i was studying Heb 13 where it tells us to show hospitality to the stranger and spoke about how i love B&B's because of this dynamic. Did you know that many convents have been turned into B&B's because the nuns felt they're main gift was in hospitality?

i think i would like to run a B&B someday.

i think B&B's are dear to God's heart!

They also felt that "their" gift was hospitality!

No, I really didn't know that convents had been converted. (Ha, that looks funny.)
You'd be good at the B & B hospitality! Although, u may have to carve out some time for yourself...

What a coincidence! Isn't it funny how these things happen?
I'm not that proficient at the slideshow thing, but sign up for Picasa2 (google it and you'll easily see the download) and sign up for web albums. Once you upload your pics into albums, you can get a code to paste into your post. I never remember how to get there so I always have to go to help, but if I find the 'real' way, I'll definitely let you know!
